The Battle of Gallipoli:
The Battle of Gallipoli first commenced once the troops arrived on the shores of the Gallipoli Peninsula on the 25th April 1915 and ended to the 9th January 1916. This particular battle lasted for 9 months.
The Battle of Gallipoli is one of the most important battles in New Zealand World War 1 History. Gallipoli is treated as being the most significant and memorable battle in which all New Zealander's are aware of. The Battle of Gallipoli is very important to many individuals who fought and fought and fought for our country. The battle did involve many soldiers loosing their lives, but as a result of this it is something we as New Zealander's like to remember. Although soldiers were lost, we commemorate them in celebrating ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day is a special day for New Zealander's and Australians and it is a day which is celebrated annually. The most significant day of military rememberance.
Through this important battle, soldiers fought sweat and blood to prove the fact that they were there to represent their country. New Zealand forces and Australian forces played an important part in the Gallipoli campaign, through this both nations were able to form a close bond with each other and assured that the fight was not going to be done individually but formed together to create one. Many families had been affected by this battle and war, as their loved ones were taken away so easily.
To the many New Zealand solders who sacrificed their lives to fight for their country, is something that can never be replaced. As the Gallipoli Campaign ended, over 2,750 young kiwi soldiers were killed in the battle, only a quarter of those sent to the Gallipoli Peninsula. This means that many young soldiers had not lived a long life, but used that time to fight for the freedom and nature of there people (New Zealander's).
